How we got started…

As I grew up, I was always interested in cooking. I would watch my mother cook and bake for hours. It seems to be in my genes.

My birth father also loved to cook and smoke bacon and make great meals. My wife, Lori, and 4 children have been very supportive of making my seasonings. They have tasted many foods I have made over the years and some didn’t always turn out so good. lol I would always try again and hope it would be better next time. Without my family, I wouldn’t be anywhere - I have done a lot of different jobs in my lifetime, mainly driving truck, which gave me many of hours to think of different recipes. I always love to eat good food and I’m always trying to improve my dishes so I started fooling around with different ingredients.
That’s how my seasonings started. The people that ate my steaks and ribs asked me how I made them so good and tasty?!? I said it took a lot of playing around with different seasonings to come up with a finished product.
In 1995, I won first place in the Minnesota State Beef Cook Off Contest in Minneapolis and in 1999 I came in second! I thought I wouldn’t have a chance to win but I did! That gave me confidence to keep doing it.
I love to cook for friends and family, race snowmobiles, hunt, fish, water ski & snow ski. Most of all I like to see peoples faces when they eat my food and they tell me how great it is! There’s not enough room to tell my whole life story. lol Thanks to all of my friends & supporters of PaPa’s Seasonings!
